Tropical Lust

This painting emanates a lustful warmth; a feeling I loved and remember well about living in the tropics for many years. The colors, forms, and composition donate to a sultry impression emerging from a mysterious background. This artwork also represents the joy of abundance, lust and the outpouring of love in a most intriguing manner.

The inspiration flowed as the powerful energy unfolded during the production of this painting. Much of it was completed with paint applied directly with my fingers along with quick gestural strokes with a paint brush. This painting represents the struggles between the darkness of evil and the goodness of light.

Street Dancers

There are countless daily ups and downs and the key is not to get attached to any one of them; as I learned during the process of creating this painting.  Street dancers symbolize expression in a vulnerable arena.

Careless Love

Creating something with the illusion of carelessness containing complexity while maintaining balance was my goal in this painting; perhaps a virtue I seek within myself.

Send Good Vibes

I believe in karma, and putting out positive or negative vibes comes back. In this painting my goal was to simulate depth by creating semi-transparent layers of color; more with whites and grays, then adding the warmer hues to give dynamic energy. Most of the lines and brush strokes I do while blind-folded and painting with my mind's eye for the purpose of less control of the outcome and to fully let go.

Tempests And Saints

The continuous confrontation between good and evil can be seen at times as a dance between unlikely partners whom wish to see the demise of the other; maybe like a heated tango between quarrelsome lovers.  This idea is directed more towards the composition of the painting rather than the colors.  Perhaps the pale blues and violets suggests that “good” has the upper hand.

Jupiter

The best things in life are not always free as everything comes with some sort of sacrifice or compromise.  This painting represents dualities and contrasts in my life; mainly giving up the things that would benefit my comfort zone in order to extend myself to the outer limits of my being; into areas of my undiscovered psyche.

Middle Child

The middle child is very special in multiple ways.  A session with a psycho-therapist will put enlightenment into that subject.

Indecent Notions

Finding balance, harmony and unity but yet creating individualism in each panel was my challenge while creating these paintings.

Painting Memories

The months following my mother’s passing, my paintings evolved into a style that appeared to be of a child-like expressionistic approach that I found comfort in. During the painting process I felt that I was subconsciously searching into my childhood memories for healing. This idea fossilizes my interest and intent to continue in the fashion of abstract expressionism as this style, to me, preserves memory and identity, and gives order in the world around me.

To Bottom Of My Drink &

Quintar Crusade

The desire to achieve depth with limited color and form in a two dimensional artwork -- simplicity is the glory of expression.

Princess Charming

Without struggle there is no progress.  Painting over painting, trial and error; some days the process seems endless and fruitless; but with perpetual persistence, determination, drive, the challenge, craziness, (not really sure what it is), keeps me going on days like these.  Letting go and merely enjoying the process, I have found, is the key.

Getting Some Fun Out Of Life

The gratifications of living a healthy, happy life and to accept with peace whatever comes my way. There are countless daily ups and downs and the key is not to get attached to any one of them - I allow them to flow through like the clouds floating by.  This painting displays happiness and joy; but just as quickly as these blessing may come at times, they may vanish.  I am reminded of the simple pleasures of life.

Strange Magic, Potion In Motion, Creed 1 & Creed 2

These dynamic smaller artworks are packed full of mood and emotions.  The smaller panels are a challenge due to the limited space so much care is taken in achieving my goal and not to over work.

Journey

There are those days for me when my life seems futile and my breath is trivial. The life that I have chosen is against the grain of my upbringing and by now compromise is not an option.  Self reliance has always been my dictum even if it means walking into the dark woods alone.

Trillion & Can’t You

The desire for these artworks was to create balance within an intense vertical (or horizontal) format. Although the field itself is limited, my goal was to allow the idea of a much grandeur space beyond the boarders of the panel by suggesting that the objects or forms are merely floating by as the viewer observes through a portal. The narrow space is tapping with the notion that we often choose not to see the full reality or the whole picture of things which allows the imagination to wander.

Kisses To The Air

Even though this painting may represent lightness and celebration to many, I created this when I was going through many personal challenges in my life. I believe I was attempting to find solitude and peace in this painting and to remind me that troublesome issues can be lightened.

Paradise Flora

While passing through paradise in a dream I picked a flower and when I awoke, I found the flower in my hand. This painting is inspired from my years living in Hawaii and enjoying the colorful flora of the tropics.

The Reaping

The basis of art is truth, both in content and in process.  Layer upon layer of semi-transparent and opaque applications of paint assist in creating the illusion of infinite depth in a two dimensional artwork.
